Before Your Procedure
How should I prepare for a Laser Hair Reduction session?+
The laser needs the hair root intact under the skin to target it, so a little preparation makes all the difference:
- Shave, don't wax — shave the target area 24 hours before your appointment. Do not wax, pluck, thread or use bleaching creams for at least 3 weeks before.
- Arrive with skin entirely clean — free of lotions, perfumes, deodorants or makeup.
Should I stop any skincare products before a Medi-Facial, Peel or Laser session?+
Yes. Discontinue strong active ingredients — such as prescription vitamin-A creams, exfoliating acids (AHAs/BHAs) or brightening serums — for 3 to 5 days before your treatment, as they increase sensitivity and can alter how your skin reacts.
Can I get a clinical treatment if I have a tan or sun damage?+
Avoid direct, prolonged sun exposure, tanning beds and spray tans for at least 2 to 3 weeks before any laser or chemical peel. Laser energy is highly attracted to pigment, so treating tanned skin increases the risk of temporary hyperpigmentation or superficial burns.
Do I need to stop any medications before an injectable or surgical procedure?+
For injectable treatments or minor surgeries (cysts, nail procedures), avoid blood-thinning medicines and supplements for 5 to 7 days prior — only after consulting your physician. This minimises the risk of bruising or swelling at the injection site.
Protecting Your Results
What is the most important rule of post-procedure skincare?+
Sun protection is non-negotiable. Your skin is uniquely vulnerable to UV damage after lasers, peels or microneedling. Apply a broad-spectrum, medical-grade sunscreen (SPF 30+) every 3 to 4 hours, even indoors or on cloudy days, and wear a wide-brimmed hat in direct sunlight.
When can I resume my normal skincare and makeup?+
For non-invasive treatments (Hydrafacial, Carbon Peels, Laser Toning) you can usually apply mineral makeup and gentle moisturisers immediately, and resume active serums after 3 to 5 days once redness resolves.
For micro-invasive treatments (Microneedling, PRP, Fractional CO₂), keep skin bare and use only the prescribed healing balm or plain moisturiser for the first 24 to 48 hours, avoiding makeup to prevent pore contamination.
Can I hit the gym, take a hot shower or go to a sauna afterwards?+
Hold off for 24 to 48 hours. Avoid heavy workouts, swimming pools, steam rooms, saunas and very hot showers, as excess sweat, heat and friction can worsen inflammation, trigger hives or introduce bacteria into newly opened micro-channels.
My skin is peeling or flaking after a peel or laser. Should I scrub it off?+
Absolutely not. If you experience mild flaking or peeling (common after deep chemical peels or Fractional CO₂), do not pick, scratch or manually exfoliate — let the dead skin shed naturally. Forcing it off can cause raw patches, scarring or post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation. Keep the area deeply hydrated with the recommended moisturiser.
What should I do about minor swelling or bruising after injectables?+
Mild swelling, tenderness or a small bruise at the injection site is entirely normal and temporary. Gently apply a cold compress or wrapped ice pack for 10 minutes at a time, and avoid rubbing or massaging the treated zones so the product settles evenly.
Emergency note: Minor redness and a mild sunburnt sensation are standard responses to advanced treatments. However, please contact the clinic immediately if you experience severe pain, unexpected blistering, spreading rashes or any signs of an active infection.
